The Sika Experience

Today’s the 4th day of Sika Experience 2013 continues taking place with the main operation at the site.

We were visited RMIT UNIVERSITY construction where we saw the direct experience with the technology of Sika waterproofing.Mr.Dinh who is waterproofing manager of Sika company to helped us know about treating proofing. With roof surface is covered by PVC Membranes and the location between steel and roof surface use Sikadur to connect bonding old to new concrete. In the other hand, using grouting help voids filling and anchoring that  is the method of treating waterproofing has been used by contractors. That are the best waterproofing solution in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, we moved to Da Nang city which is  Vietnam’s third largest city with big construction project such as Dragon bridge , Tran Thi Ly bridge…… That used Sika admixture during making concrete and is also the destination of Sika Experience tomorrow.I hope that i will  have more knowledge from its.

Finally, we had a fun evening and rest to prepare for tomorrow’s journey.

Each day gone by, I respected the time much more. After 4 days at Ho Chi Minh city, I gradually got used to the life here. But today we have to move to Danang city and left Ho Chi Minh city.

Firstly, we checked out the hotel and visited to RMIT University at District 7. It is a new modern building but they got some problem with roofing. Fortunately, they received assistance from Hung Trang company with Sika’s product to fix it I can tell some of Sika’s product that was used in thí project: SikaGrout, Sikaflex Construction and Sika AnchorFix… We understand more about structure and waterproofing from Mr. Dinh and engineer of Hung Trang company.

In the afternoon, we went to Sika head office at district 1 to prepare to go to Danang province. After one hour flighting, we arrived Da Nang, checked in hotel, taken a rest and had dinner. Besides, We got some interesting experience at Dragon Bridge. It is one of special bridge in Vietnam.

I’m very glad to know we will visit some project in Han river tomorrow. Come back the hotel and relax! Good night every body.

This day is the last day in Ho Chi Minh city of us. We visited Rmit university on the top floor. At there, we saw the application Sika products. For example, Sarnafil PVC membrane is used to cover whole surface of top floor.

We knew that when we want to repair the spanning joint and cracking in concrete, grout sealing is very useful.And we also knew how to connect between old and new concrete.

In this evening, we got off at Da Nang airport.Da Nang is a beautiful city with many beautiful bridges After finishing the dinner, we walked on feet to see Ham Rong bridge.

One more day went by, we got home after a long trip
We started the day after check out the hotel, and then we visited a fixing construction, that was university of RMIT Viet Nam.They are applying Sika’s products there, that call Sarnafil and Sikadur 732

Event today the weather was too hot outside, but with Mr Dinh’s enthusiastic, we have had our day, he shown us how to install the waterproofing and how the Sikadur 732 connects the layer of new and old concrete

The problem is not problem, the problem is the attitude you face the problem

Eventually, we had a conversation with Mr Dinh and Supervisor of construction around the status of that construction and many answers and questions of each one. we know how damage the building has to suffer if we choose the wrong product to build them, especial RMIT university they have to paid more 120.000 USD once more to fix the waterproofing system of their building.
So we gain the idea, in construction sometime the price it not the problem, the problem is wheather the quality deserve with our paid money

Today was the last day of the trip in Ho Chi Minh city. we spent the morning at  RMIT international university with Mr Dinh. Sika now helps the school  fix the roof because the ex constructors might not have the best solution of preventing water. I was surprised of the procedure when using Sika products, the preparation before applying have already taken 28 days.

some details here have been raising above the roof to easily apply membraines. some columns will be used a special cement from Sika to prevent of harms of enviroment especially water.

leaving RMIT we went to Sika office in Ho Chi Minh city to discuss all the thing we had learned from here and planing for the trip to Da Nang in the late afternoon.

Good bye Ho Chi Minh, we arrived Da Nang city at 6:45 pm. the first feeling  about the center of the middle area of Viet Nam is the wonderful space here especiall the beatiful bridges along Han river. tomorrow we will have a deep trip to learn more about them and how Sika helped them to be more stronger. hope for the next!

So we had been staying in Ho Chi Minh City for almost 4 days and 3 nights and today’s morning was the last moment I spent in this beautiful city. After checking-out the hotel, our group was on the way to visit RMIT University, which is very modern and locating in a huge area. A new building has already finished in the campus, but they have a problem with the drainage of the roofing. The problem was not considered as serious as it should be, then the cover made by bitumen was destroyed in less than a year, before the guarantee expired. The client then had to employ the Hung Trang company, who uses Sika application in fixing the drainage system for the roof. A lesson I have learned in the morning is that if at the beginning you don’t do it right, later you have to pay a lot for fixing problems. Each square meter, it costs 34-40$ to repair and install a new water-proofing system. Moreover, 28 days has been gone, but the company not yet finishes the preparation before they really install the water-proofing. Every detail has been done very carefully and accurately. “Be careful at every moment from the beginning to the end, or you have to pay price”. 

This is the first time I have ever been to Da Nang and I did expected this trip to come earlier, and it meets my expectations, Da Nang is very beautiful and spectacular under the lights. Tran Thi Ly Bridge, Song Han Bridge, Dragon Bridge, I eagle to visit you after dinner with my group. Hopefully, I will have a memorable night here with Sika Experience, thank you and you have been giving me a lot of suprises.

After 3 interesting day at Ho Chi Minh city, we are now boarding on the flight to Da Nang city.

Base on what we have learn, today we have chance to practical experience.

In the early morning of third day, we visited to Sika’s office at Ho Chi Minh City. Then quickly we went to SaiGon RDC concrete factory. With Mr,Nghiem’s help we understand more about how they produce and preserve ready concrete. He guided us carefully step by step. If concrete was transported long distance, Sika production helped to ensure its workability.

Next, We moved to Phan Vu precast concrete at Dong Nai.I saw how they makes driven pile and that makes me very impressed. It relate to my major and I learned a lot of new things which my university doesn’t teach. Mr.Nghiem also showed us products before we left.

At the afternoon, we visited to highway Sai Gon- Long Thanh- Dau Giay project. That is important project of South area to connect with North-South highway. Standing on the bridge, we saw the whole project. The length of the highway is approximately 100 kilometers.

Finally, we came back the hotel, take a rest and prepare to learn much more tomorrow.

Today, we visited the construction where used the Sika products. That is really an experience which has given me many useful practical knowledge.

The first location is the Sai Gon RDC ready mix concrete plant. We were introduced about the production process of fresh concrete from test sample to mix concrete and make the final product convey the site. All step closely examined before concrete move in construction. The Sika products help to set retard concrete that ensure the workability when it was transported to the site.

The second location is the precast concrete  plant at Dong Nai. We saw the process of making driven pile. I have learned a lot of experience through the guidance of Sika staff

Finally, we move the construction of Sai Gon- Dau Giay highway project whose length is 58 km. That is one of the key project of the southern provinces. I am very excited when i saw this construction.
