So, this year marks the 50th Anniversary of Sarnafil membrane!
The marketing department at Sika Sarnafil USA has put together a fabulous book highlighting the “milestones, innovations, and projects” that Sarnafil membrane has accomplished over the past 50 years in the roofing and waterproofing industry.
Here’s a look at some featured projects that are my personal favorites…
First United Methodist Church
Gilford, New Hampshire – Installed: 1976

“One of the very first Sarnafil installations in North America,” this roof is still going strong after 36 years of proven performance!
Chicago City Hall
Chicago, Illinois – Completed: 2001

Green roofs take sustainability to a whole new level, especially in this project. Between sunlight and rainwater absorption, “The green roof atop Chicago City Hall immediately began saving the city almost $10,000 per year in energy costs.” Not to mention, it looks so COOL! Figuratively and literally…
The Ascent at Roebling’s Bridge
Covington, Kentucky

The Ascent luxury condominium complex is just down right impressive, both architecturally and aesthetically. Sarnafil membrane in custom colors not only provides watertight protection, it also adds to the striking appearance by giving the illusion of the concrete and blue glass walls extending across the rooftop. I’d say it’s as close as you can get to living inside an ocean wave. Awesome.
